Debt Load: The 28/36 rule
The 28/36 rule is another tool that mortgage lenders use to figure out your eligibility for debt.

This rule suggests that your monthly household debt service not exceed 28% of your gross monthly income. And your total debt service, including your house payments and all other financial obligations, should not exceed 36% of your gross monthly income.
