Credit Reports: How long before I can repair my credit rating?
The length of time the information is kept on your credit file varies, depending on the type of information in question.

Inquiries made by credit grantors and others who may extend a benefit to you are retained for a minimum of three years. Credit history and banking information is retained for six years from the last activity date. Bankruptcies are retained for six years from the date of discharge. Generally speaking, credit information can sit in your file for up to seven years.
